Applications may be submitted online through the Graduate Admissions office. The GRE is not required. Additional required materials include: a 500-word statement of interest in our program and a writing sample, to be submitted by postal mail, as follows:
- ten pages of poetry or
- twenty to twenty-five pages of prose or
- two one-act plays or
- one full-length play
If you are applying in literary translation, you will need to demonstrate an appropriate level of fluency in a language besides English and submit previously translated work (5-10 pages) as a writing sample. Our program is small and highly competitive.

ANNOUNCING A NEW SCHOLARSHIP
Available to: Full- and part-time matriculated students demonstrating exceptional scholastic ability who begin their Master/Master of Fine Arts program in the Fall 2020 semester. Full-time students awarded the scholarship must take a minimum of 9 credits per fall and spring semester of their first year. Part-time students must take a minimum of 6 credits per fall and spring semester to be considered eligible. International students must take a minimum of 9 credits per fall and spring semester for eligibility.
Award Amount: Full-time scholarships are $9,000; part-time scholarships are $6,000.
Deadline to apply: February 15, 2020. Successful applicants will be notified by the Dean of Graduate Studies by May 1.
